My First Book Club

My First Book Club meets monthly with Ms. Eileen on the 2nd Friday of the month at 4 pm in the Children's Area on the Main Floor. This group is designed for Preschool - Grade 1, perfect for "graduates of Storytime" who are ready to engage with a picture book in a new way. Each month includes a child-sized book discussion and craft activity.

Mad Scientist Book Club

Mad Scientist Book Club for Grades 2 - 5 is a monthly club that reads and discusses a science-related book (fiction/nonfiction; beginning chapter/graphic novel) and follows up the discussion with a hands-on experiment or activity. The group meets on the 3rd Friday of the month at 4:00 pm.  Library location varies according to the planned activity.

Join Ms. Julie and Ms. Andrea for our Grade 5-9 book club on the 4th Friday of each month at 4 pm.  Each month we'll read a science-themed book and complete a related STEAM project.

Genre Tasting

Be a Book Taster! This multi-age book club allows participants in Grades 2 -12 to choose their own title in a specified genre, read it, and share it with the group in a discussion facilitated by your librarians.   Your librarians will also choose a book in that genre with an accompanying recipe that we'll all prepare (and taste) during our book tasting discussion. Both Ms. Andrea and Ms. Julie have severe food allergies but are enthusiastic cooks, making them the perfect pair to lead this food and book tasting venture. Due to the nature of this program, children under age 12 must have a caregiver in the library during the program. Please note that the registration form requires all participants to indicate any food allergies or sensitivities.

Radical Reads Book Group

The Radical Reads Book Group for Adults invites its members to read outside their comfort zone and confront hot topics in the news.  Subjects include immigration, gender and racial equality, and other social issues of the day. This monthly group, led by Andrea, meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Bean Room.

Cookbook Book Club

Our cookbook Club meets on the third Monday of each month at Noon on the Lower Level.
Many thanks to Library Trustee and volunteer, Pam Armstrong for leading this venture.
Here's how it works:

  • Sign up and pick up this month's cookbook at the circulation desk, just as you would any book club.
  • Choose any recipe you  like and prepare it to share at the "discussion."
  • Bring your dish and serving implement, along with a card that names the recipe.
  • Bring your own eating utensils and plate/bowl.
  • We'll provide beverages.

As the Page Turns

Our monthly book discussion group for adults, As the Page Turns, meets on the second Monday of the month from 2 - 3:30 pm in the Bean Room of the library.  Each month, a different book group member will lead the discussion.

Pick up your copy of this month's selection at the Main Circulation desk.
