Town Manager

The Town of Jaffrey adopted the provisions of NH RSA Chapter 37, creating the position of Town Manager at their 1986 Town Meeting.  The Town Manager is appointed by the Board of Selectmen to function as the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer of the Town, responsible for the proper administration of all Town departments and the day-to-day operation of the Town.  The Manager’s powers and duties are established in state statute, RSA 37.

The Town Manager carries out policy decisions of the Board of Selectmen; oversees all property, real and personal, owned by the Town; keeps the Board of Selectmen informed of the Town's needs and ongoing conditions; and make reports as may be required by law, requested by the Board, or judged necessary by the Manager.  The Town Manager takes part in all discussions which come before the Board of Selectmen, but acts in a non-voting advisory capacity.

On an annual basis, the Town Manager provides the Board of Selectmen the annual budget, including proposed expenditures and estimated revenues, for submission to the Budget Committee.  This document outlines the immediate and long range financial and capital project plans for the Town that is ultimately presented to the voters at Town Meeting.
