The Conant Cemetery Fund

Created: 1950
Purpose: Care and maintenanace of Conant Cemetery.

"Conant Cemetery - Perpetual Care Fund Article at town of Jaffrey town meeting of 1950. That the Moderator appoint three Cemetery Trustees, one to serve for one year, one for two years and one for three years and until their successors are appointed and thereafter the Selectmen shall appoint a Cemetery Trustee each year for a term of three years. The Trustees first so appointed shall constitute a committee to negotiate with the Conant Cemetery Association looking to a transfer to the Town of the Conant Cemetery and all trust funds belonging to said Association and the income from funds held by other Trustees for the benefit of said Conant Cemetery, and if in the opinion of said committee, the interest of the Town, the purposes of the donors of said trust funds and the general interests of the Conant Cemetery as a whole will be properly safeguarded the Town will accecpt said Cemetery, to be administered as a Town Cemetery agreeably to the provision of law; all trust funds now held by said Association shall be  placed in the custody of the Trustees of Trust Funds, the income to be expended in accordance with the provisions specified by the donors, and also the income form funds held by other trustees for the benefit of said Cemetery and certain lots therein.

The Motion was adopted.

Another Motion. That if the Conant Cemetery shall become the property of the Town, the Cemetery Trustees are hereby authorized to sell lots therein at prices to be established by them and the proceeds thereof shall be deposited in a special fund with the Trustee of Trust Funds, the income of which shall be paid over from time to time to the Cemetery Trustees for the care and maintenanace of said Conant Cemetery until otherwise ordered by the Town."
