The Conant High Fund

"Article 10 of Will of John Conant. (for support of High School)

I also give and bequeath to the said Town of Jaffrey $7,000. for a perpetual school fund, under the following conditions and limitations; Said fund shall be under the control, management and direction of a Board of three trustees to be appointed by the Selecmen of the Town to serve for the period of ten years, provided that if vacancy occurs in said Board by death or resignation at any time, said vacancy shall be promptly filled by said Selectmen. Said Trustees shall keep said fund suitably invested and if by any inverstment or reinvestment the principal shall be reduced below such principal, then the income or interest thereof shall be added to principal until the said principal shall amount to said $7,000. Said Trustees shall equally apply the income or interest of said Fund to the support of a High School. Children in all sections of the Town shall equally enjoy the benefits of said School, may attend the same, as such ages and under such regualtions as the Trustees may prescribe. Said Trustees are not expected by the Testator to charge for personal service but only for necessary expenses, and they shall report annually to the town at the Annual March Meeting the condition of said Fund and the manner in which the income or interest thereof has been expended."
