Hugh and Agnes Morgan Scholarship Fund

Purpose: Scholarship

"…and the full net income therefrom shall be used and expensed by the Trustees in aiding students who are residents of Jaffrey and attend the Jaffrey-Rindge school. Each year, so much of the net income of the trust fund as provided below shall be paid to an eligible student. The responsibility for choosing an eligible student shall rest solely with the guidance counselor and the principal of the Jaffrey-Rindge school. The decision of the guidance counselor and principal, with respect to the selection of an eligible student, shall be based on the following criteria: (1) the student must be a resident of Jaffrey; (2) the student must have a clear financial need for the scholarship assistance; and (3) the student must have a superior academic record.

Bank interest and other income permitting, the scholarship will be for One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). If the income does not amount to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), the scholarship will be adjusted accordingly. If the income exceeds One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), the Trustees may accumulate the excess income until the income from the Trust Fund (including retained income) permits the granting of a second scholarship of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). Upon written notification by the school principal, the Trustees will mail a check, for one-half of the full amount of the scholarship award at tge beginning of the first semester and one-half at the beginning of the second semester, to the college where the student is to be enrolled."

The above section in italics was replaced by an amendment dated May 3, 1993.

Section three, second paragraph is hereby canceled and is of no further effect. In lieu of the canceled provision, the following section is substituted: Bank interest and other income permitting, the scholarship will be for One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). If the income does not amount to One thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), the scholarship will be adjusted accordingly. If the income exceeds One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), the Trustees may accumulate the excess income until the income from the Trust Fund (including retained income) permits the Trustees to increase the amount of the scholarship. Upon written notification by the school principal, the Trustees will mail a check, for one-half of the full amount of the scholarship award at the beginning of the first semester and one-half at the beginning of the second semester, to the college where the student is to be enrolled. The check shall be made payable to both the institution and the student awardee. If the student should fail to complete a semester, any refund due said student shall be forfeited and be returned to the Trustees.
